1. Information We Access or Collect
Shopify store information
When a merchant installs or uses Promotion Margin Guard, the app may access information from the merchant’s Shopify store that is necessary to provide its functionality, including store identifiers and Shopify store domain, product and product variant information, product prices, product cost information available through Shopify, discount and promotion information, identifiers for products, variants, and discounts, and information necessary to determine whether a product variant meets a merchant-defined minimum margin threshold.
Promotion Margin Guard uses this information to simulate promotions, calculate margins, classify eligible and ineligible variants, and create or manage protected discounts.
Merchant and Shopify administrator information
Shopify authentication and session management may provide or store limited information relating to the merchant or authorized Shopify administrator using the app, such as Shopify user ID, first and last name, email address, account-owner status, preferred locale, collaborator status, authentication session information, and access or refresh tokens required to securely communicate with Shopify.
This information is used only as necessary to authenticate authorized users, maintain the Shopify connection, provide the app, and protect the security of the service.
App settings and promotion information
Promotion Margin Guard may store information created through use of the app, including minimum margin settings, discount percentages, promotion titles, Shopify discount identifiers, identifiers of eligible product variants, number of eligible variants, promotion status, and dates associated with creation, updates, or deactivation of protected promotions.
Technical information
Our hosting, database, and infrastructure providers may process limited technical information required to operate and secure the service, such as request timestamps, application logs, error information, and other standard server or security information. We do not use this information for behavioral advertising.
2. Customer and Buyer Data
Promotion Margin Guard does not request access to Shopify protected customer data and does not require buyer or customer information to provide its current functionality.
The app does not intentionally access or store customer names, customer email addresses, customer phone numbers, customer physical addresses, customer order histories, or payment card details.
Promotion Margin Guard is designed to operate using product, cost, margin, and discount information rather than customer-level personal information.
3. How We Use Information
- Provide and operate the app.
- Authenticate merchants and authorized Shopify users.
- Connect securely with Shopify APIs.
- Retrieve product, variant, pricing, and cost information.
- Calculate current and projected margins.
- Simulate percentage-based promotions.
- Identify variants that meet or fail a merchant-defined margin floor.
- Exclude variants with missing cost information or insufficient margins.
- Create and manage protected Shopify discounts.
- Remember merchant-specific app settings.
- Manage subscription access.
- Troubleshoot errors and maintain service reliability.
- Detect, prevent, and address security or technical issues.
- Comply with applicable laws, legal obligations, and Shopify platform requirements.
We do not use merchant or store information to build advertising profiles or sell personal information.
4. Shopify Billing
Subscriptions to Promotion Margin Guard are handled through Shopify App Pricing. Shopify manages subscription approval and billing. Promotion Margin Guard does not receive or store merchants’ payment card numbers or complete payment credentials.
We may receive or verify limited subscription information, such as whether a merchant has an active Promotion Margin Guard plan, in order to determine access to the app.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Promotion Margin Guard may use strictly necessary technical mechanisms required for authentication, security, session management, and operation of the embedded Shopify app.
We do not place advertising or behavioral-tracking technologies on a merchant’s storefront as part of the app’s current functionality, and we do not track shoppers across unrelated websites or services.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
We may share or process information with service providers only where reasonably necessary to operate Promotion Margin Guard, including providers used for cloud application hosting, database infrastructure, authentication and Shopify platform integration, and security, monitoring, and technical operations.
We may also disclose information when required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; protect the security, rights, or property of Promotion Margin Guard, merchants, Shopify, or others; investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents; or comply with Shopify's platform and App Store requirements.
7. Third-Party Services
Shopify provides the commerce platform, authentication, APIs, app billing, and related services used by Promotion Margin Guard.
Render is used to host application infrastructure and may process information necessary to deliver and operate the service.
Supabase is used to provide database infrastructure for application data, settings, sessions, and protected promotion records.
Each third-party provider maintains its own terms, security practices, and privacy policies.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Promotion Margin Guard, maintain the merchant’s app configuration and promotions, satisfy legitimate security and operational needs, and comply with legal or Shopify platform requirements.
When Shopify sends a valid mandatory privacy or erasure request, Promotion Margin Guard processes the request in accordance with Shopify requirements.
When a store is subject to a valid shop/redact request, Promotion Margin Guard deletes app data associated with that Shopify store from its active application database, including stored app settings, protected promotion records, and application sessions.
Some limited information may be retained where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, or maintain security, where permitted by applicable law.
9. Mandatory Shopify Privacy Requests
Promotion Margin Guard supports Shopify's mandatory privacy compliance webhooks, including customer data requests, customer deletion requests, and shop deletion requests.
Because Promotion Margin Guard does not currently access or store protected Shopify customer data, customer-specific requests will generally not identify customer information held by the app. Store-level deletion requests are processed in accordance with Shopify's requirements.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information handled through Promotion Margin Guard. These safeguards include secure HTTPS connections, Shopify authentication mechanisms, restricted access to production systems, and security controls provided by our infrastructure providers.
However, no internet transmission, storage system, or security measure can guarantee absolute security. Merchants are responsible for maintaining the security of their Shopify accounts and limiting access to authorized users.
11. International Data Processing
Promotion Margin Guard and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where the merchant is located. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards may be used for international transfers of personal information.
12. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we process information when necessary to provide the services requested by the merchant, perform our contractual obligations, maintain the security and integrity of the app, comply with legal obligations, or pursue legitimate interests related to operating, maintaining, securing, and improving Promotion Margin Guard where those interests are not overridden by applicable individual rights.
13. Privacy Rights
Depending on applicable law and jurisdiction, individuals may have rights relating to their personal information, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent where applicable.
Requests concerning Shopify customer data should generally be initiated through the relevant Shopify merchant. For information controlled directly by Promotion Margin Guard, privacy requests may be submitted using the contact information below.
14. Children's Privacy
Promotion Margin Guard is a business application intended for Shopify merchants and authorized business users. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the app.
15. Sale of Personal Information and Targeted Advertising
Promotion Margin Guard does not sell personal information. We do not use personal information collected through the app for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, and we do not share merchant information with third parties for their independent advertising purposes.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Promotion Margin Guard, our service providers, legal requirements, or Shopify platform requirements. When material changes are made, the updated Privacy Policy will be posted at this location with a revised effective date.
